The Alginate dressing is an absorbent dressings derived from seaweed. Placed into the wound in a dry form, they absorb exudate to form a hydrophilic gel whilst maintaining a moist wound interface. Alginates also process haemostatic properties and are therefore particularly useful in bleeding wounds. The wound dressing is easy to remove and conforms to wound contours.
The alginate dressing have a lot of advantages, such as strong absorption, assisting to control mild bleeding, offering perfect healing environment, good compliance, a munimum of fiber remaining and easy to change.
Full-thickness or part cortex damage wound can be applied and also for medium to large amount of exudation. For example, burns for skin area, diabetic ulcer, venous leg ulcera-tion, pressure sore, carcinelcosis and so on.
